A Teen's Guide to Bangkok, TH

Bangkok. The Big Mango, the City of Angels, or Asia's city that never sleeps. I think it's safe to say that Bangkok may be the NYC of the East. I know what you're thinking - nothing could replace New York, but let me share some of my most memorable experiences living in Thailand.

Moving to Bangkok was the most exciting thing I've ever done. I met great people, attended an international school, and found a love for writing and the performing arts. But that's not specific to Bangkok, new things happen everywhere. Here's why Thailand may be the country for you:

  1. Bangkok is surrounded by beach towns.

Bangkok is the heart of Thailand, meaning it is surrounded by beach towns (such as Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, etc.

Picture it: You're relaxing on a lounge chair while sipping on coconut water (that's fresh out of a coconut) and maybe reading your favorite book or catching up on your favorite TV show. Either way, you're sure to have the time of your life at one of Thailand's beach towns.

2. Bangkok is surrounded by lush green mountains.

Maybe the beaches aren't your thing. That's fine! Thailand has many mountains and hills for nature lovers.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

If you love trees, greenery, and possibly hiking, then Chiang Mai is the place for you! It's a gorgeous city that has a rich history as shown in the various temples and historical architecture.

If you're like me, then you probably love hearing about the history and story behind what meets the eye. Chiang Mai has an abundance of lavish history which is sure to catch your attention.

But maybe history bores you? That's completely okay!

3. Bangkok has thousands of fun activities for us to do!

Okay, let's be realistic here. It's pretty much impossible to take a vacation every weekend, so there has got to be something else which you can do. Well, Bangkok is has a mall at practically every BTS station (the BTS is the SkyTrain that runs through the city). Whether is EmQuartier, Emporium, Terminal 21, Central World, or even the new Icon Siam. These malls are all easily accessible by the general public.

So if you love to shop (again, like me) I think it's safe to say that you are going to enjoy this city.

4. The BTS

The BTS is an easy-access SkyTrain that connects the city. It is safe to use, and it is probably the most efficient way to get around. You could always take taxis, but hear me now, Bangkok's traffic is really bad.

Think the subway in NYC... but cleaner, and it's in the sky (hence SkyTrain).

5. The diversity within the city itself

Bangkok is a GORGEOUS city with a rich history that will blow your mind. Whether it's visiting the various temples (see above) and shrines all day or strolling the Metropolitan downtown by night, Bangkok is guaranteed to have something to cater to your likings.

Do you see it? Bangkok is such a beautiful city that has activities for all kinds of people. I enjoyed living in Bangkok! It's an amazing city, with amazing culture, and gorgeous weekend hotspots. So I assume, you're booking your next getaway to Bangkok, Thailand!
